KUALA LUMPUR (April 29): The reopening date of Pasar Besar Jalan Othman will depend on traders' Covid-19 test results, said Petaling district officer and disaster committee chairman Johary Anuar.

Johary told reporters that a total of 151 people, including 118 traders, 17 cleaners and 16 enforcement officers, were screened for the disease with samples taken this morning.

"The section involved in today's screening were 21 stalls of fish traders.

"Once the process is done, they will receive their results within 48 hours and the results will dictate whether the quarantine will continue," he said.

According to Johary, those who took the tests today will be given a quarantine letter for 14 days.

"However, if we find the results negative, we will lift the quarantine," he added.

Johary said the market must be closed for at least five days.

He urged traders with any symptoms to fill up online forms immediately, and they will be informed to do a screening at the nearest government clinic in Taman Medan or Kelana Jaya.
