KUALA LUMPUR (March 18): The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has announced an extension of two months from the regular deadline for income tax filings, amid the Movement Restriction Order imposed by the government.

“The date for filing of income tax return forms, which falls between March 2020 and June 2020, have been given an extension of two months,” it said in a statement today.

Based on a quick reference guide by EY, the relevant forms to be submitted by taxpayers that do not own a business will be extended by two months to June 30, 2020, while the deadline for taxpayers that own a business is now extended to Aug 31, 2020.

IRB said its offices will be closed during the restricted period between March 18 and March 31, 2020, although online services such as ezHASiL and HASiL Live Chat will still be available.

Taxpayers can also get in touch with IRB via the Hasil Care Line at 03-8911 1000 or 603-8911 1100 (overseas).

The board had urged for all payment of taxes to be done via the ezHASiL platform.

Those that do not own a business may also submit their forms via the m-Filing mobile application, which can be accessed via smartphones and tablets.
