KUALA LUMPUR (May 11): Iran's President Dr Hassan Rouhani has congratulated Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the latter’s appointment as the seventh Prime Minister of Malaysia.

In his congratulatory letter to Dr Mahathir, Dr Hassan hoped the friendly ties between Iran and Malaysia would continue to expand, as in the past, and bilateral cooperation in different fields as well as for the unity and alliance among Islamic Ummah would increase.

"I avail myself of the opportunity to pray to God Almighty for the good health, and prosperity of your Excellency (Dr Mahathir) and happiness, and welfare for the people of Malaysia," he said.
