KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 15): Ipmuda Bhd said its shareholders have approved the change of its company name from Ipmuda Bhd to Jentayu Sustainables Bhd during the company’s 46th annual general meeting, which was conducted on a fully virtual basis Wednesday (Dec 15).

“With the approval of our name change, this represents a significant step forward as it will better reflect the company’s diversification into new businesses as we explore more strategic opportunities in the sustainability space, particularly for renewable energy and healthcare sectors, led by a new management team,” Ipmuda executive chairman Datuk Beroz Nikmal Mirdin said in a statement.

“The name 'Jentayu' is derived from a large mythical bird, symbolising courage, which resonates with us deeply as exemplified by the numerous corporate developments we have implemented as we embark on our transformation strategy. Further, we incorporated the word ‘Sustainables’ into the new name as it is in line with our vision to place sustainability at the forefront of all our projects. We are targeting our name change to be effective beginning Jan 10, 2022,” he said.

“Moving forward, we are committed towards achieving our full potential of becoming a leading renewable energy player in Malaysia with a focus on sustainability. We look forward to continue enhancing our stakeholders’ value as we take the company forward,” he added.

At Wednesday's noon break, Ipmuda rose three sen or 1.67% to RM1.83, valuing the group at RM164.36 million.

Year-to-date, the counter has risen 123.17%.
