As one of the top developers in the country, IOI Properties Group Bhd recognises the value of a strong and committed workforce, not just for its business sustainability but in volunteerism among employees, contributing to the society in which it operates for the sake of community development.

IOI Properties reaches out to those in need through monetary contributions as well as community development activities in its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes. This year, it is taking part again in The Edge Kuala Lumpur Rat Race to highlight its commitment to community development.

“I am motivated to take part in the run because of the charity initiative,” says Azlan Munani, a senior executive in the treasury department.

As a third-time participant, Azlan says he has gained experience and realises that the only way to prepare for the race is to keep training ahead of time.

For Dalilah Fisson, an officer in accounts payable, persistent practice prior to the run will help her to improve her fitness level.

“I am happy to represent my company in the run this year,” says the first-time runner.

Dalilah and Azlan agree that the run is a good initiative by The Edge because it allows participants to run for charity during office hours.

“It is a good and special initiative as we do not always get a chance to run for charity in the city during office hours,” Azlan says.

To promote volunteerism, the group encourages its employees to serve a higher purpose in society as socially responsible individuals.

As part of its sustainability goals, IOI Properties aims to enhance social well-being via community initiatives, including social responsibility commitments, community investments, community development programmes for positive long-term impacts on society and employee volunteerism activities.

When it comes to charity work in Malaysia, Azlan says he wishes to see more drive and participation from the corporate sector to contribute to society.

“I hope more donors and volunteers will contribute to good works in Malaysia,” Dalilah adds.
