(July 24): It is impossible for any party to have tampered with all the leaked data from PetroSaudi International pertaining to its controversial joint venture with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today in a report.

Dr Mahathir was quoted as saying in a Malaysiakini report that relevant parties must reveal the alleged tampered documents, adding that there were too many documents to be tampered with.

"How can you tamper so many documents? You can't," he was quoted as saying.

Earlier today, a report by Singapore's Straits Times quoted former PetroSaudi executive Xavier Andre Justo as saying that there was a plot to tamper with the documents he had stolen from PetroSaudi, which he then attempted to sell to certain individuals.

Whistleblower site Sarawak Report had denied paying for the documents from Justo, who is currently in police custody in Bangkok after being arrested in Thailand last month.

The Edge Media Group owner Tong Kooi Ong had admitted that he had promised payment to Justo in order to obtain the documents, though the payment was never made and the documents were never tampered with.

Justo was arrested for allegedly attempting to blackmail his former employers.

His arrest has been used by government supporters to discredit the slew of 1MDB exposes made by Sarawak Report and The Edge, claiming that the documents that were being published were tampered with. – The Malaysian Insider
