KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 10): Supermax Corp Bhd said the temporary shutdown of its plants in Meru, Klang, will not have a significant impact on its revenue and earnings for the financial year ending June 30, 2021,

The glove maker estimates that the temporary stoppage of operation will result in a less than 1% loss in annual production.

Supermax said only “a number” of workers from one plant had tested positive for Covid-19, but the group had opted to shut down all of its plants in the same location for deep sanitising and disinfecting.

“All employees in this location are under quarantine in a hotel and a new hostel of the company where adequate healthcare is being provided. The company’s manufacturing facilities at other locations are unaffected and operating normally,” said Supermax in a filing with the bourse this evening.

Supermax stressed that it will continue to implement and practise strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to prevent the spread of the virus among its workers, including screening of all its local and foreign workers, adherence to social distancing measures and minimising access of third parties to all of its premises.

Supermax's shares fell two sen or 0.3% to close at RM6.18, giving it a market capitalisation of RM16.81 billion.
