KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 29): Malaysia's healthcare services provider IHH Healthcare Bhd is going to open its RM400 million Gleneagles Medini Hospital in Nusajaya, Johor.

The 300-bed tertiary hospital — which is located in Medini, Nusajaya, on a 15-acre site — is IHH Healthcare's 14th hospital in Malaysia, following the opening of Gleneagles Kota Kinabalu in May by Parkway Pantai, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IHH Healthcare.

Gleneagles Malaysia chief operating officer Dato Amir Abdullah Firdaus said that this new world-class medical facility would help boost Iskandar Malaysia's attractiveness as a regional medical hub.

"Gleneagles Medini will be well resourced to boost healthcare standards in Malaysia and make Iskandar an attractive regional healthcare destination. I am confident the new hospital will further open up access to quality medical services at attractive price points for patients in Johor, Malaysia, and the region because of its strategic location," he said.

The hospital is equipped and designed to meet Joint Commission International and Malaysian Society for Quality in Health accreditation standards.

"The hospital represents our vision to bring cutting-age medical technology and best-in-class healthcare within reach of a wider population in the region. We will initially open with 30 multi-specialty medical consultants," Amir said.

He added that ultimately 138 medical suites will be leased to specialists who wish to set up their own clinics and practices within the hospital premises.

These specialists will offer a comprehensive range of medical services and treatment, although the hospital will have five centres of excellence — Cardiology, Orthopedics, Women and Children, Oncology, and Ophthalmology.

At noon, IHH Healthcare shares were down 13 sen or 2.03% at RM6.26. It saw 3.22 million shares traded, valued at RM52.55 billion.
