KUALA LUMPUR (May 28): Suria Capital Holdings Bhd has appointed Tan Sri Ibrahim Menudin as its independent and non-executive chairman, effective today, following the resignation of Datuk Faisyal Yusof Hamdain Diego.

Ibrahim, 70, was formerly chairman of the company from 2002 to 2012, Suria Capital said in a stock exchange filing today. He has also previously been a director of SapuraCrest Petroleum Bhd and special adviser to the Chief Minister of Sabah.

On top of that, Ibrahim was group chief executive officer of Malaysia Mining Corp Bhd (MMC) between 1986 and 2001, throughout which he was also chairman of Malaysia Smelting Corp Bhd.
