KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 18): Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today denied posting a tweet alleging that PAS had received funds from the RM2.6 billion donation deposited into Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's accounts.

The tweet was posted using the Twitter handle @DairyYB yesterday evening at about 5.50pm. Lim's own handle is @cmlimguaneng.

The tweet showed a photo of Najib and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang at the regional conference for al-Azhar University alumni in Kuala Lumpur yesterday with the words, "PAS antara yang terima bahagian dari dana RM2.6B. Jadi memang layak mereka berkawan baik" (PAS was among those that got part of the RM2.6 billion fund. It is deserving for them to be good friends).

Lim said he had never posted the tweet, describing it as malicious.

"I was informed about the tweet and I asked the administrator of my Twitter, (communications director of the state government information division) Yap Lee Ying, about it.

"She confirmed that no such tweet was made via my Twitter handle @cmlimguaneng. So I told her to lodge a police report this morning," he told a press conference today.

Lim, who is also DAP secretary-general, said he had not commented on the proposed cooperation between Umno and PAS since the Umno general assembly last week.

He said he regarded the matter, which was proposed by Najib during the general assembly, as a "family matter" between Umno and PAS.

Talk of cooperation between the two rival parties is not new as it was confirmed by Kelantan Umno chief Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed and state Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yaakob, who said the parties had been working together for two years.

"What the two parties do, whether they work together or not, is their own business.

"It has nothing to do with DAP ... why am I being dragged into this?

"The only time I said anything in relation to this was when MCA reportedly blamed DAP for the proposed collaboration between PAS and Umno," Lim said.

Last night, Lim also took to his Twitter account to deny the fake tweet.

The tweet has not been removed from the YB Dairy account.
