KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 6): Biscuits maker Hup Seng Industries Bhd has received a temporary closure order for one of its plants from the Ministry of Health (MoH) following the spread of Covid-19.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing today, Hup Seng said its wholly-owned subsidiary Hup Seng Perusahaan Makanan (M) Sdn Bhd (HSPM) had on Sept 5, 2021 received notice from the MoH to temporarily stop certain parts of the operations commencing on Sept 5, 2021 until Sept 11, 2021 for the disinfection of the affected area to help curb the spread of Covid-19 at its factory located in Kawasan Perindustrian Tongkang Pecah, Batu Pahat, Johor.

"HSPM is cooperating and working closely with the MoH and taking mitigating steps to contain the spread of Covid-19 at the premises, to safeguard the safety and well-being of our employees," the company said.

As for the impact on operations, Hup Seng said the temporary closure of certain parts of HSPM’s operations should not have any material impact on its production schedule and delivery of goods to its local and foreign customers.

It added that the company does not expect any material impact on its financial performance other than the cost incurred for the Covid-19 test and disinfection cost.

As at 12.30pm, Hup Seng was unchanged at 94.5 sen, with the company's market capitalisation of RM756 million.
