KUALA LUMPUR (April 21): Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd and its largest dealer Kah Motor Co Sdn Bhd opened today, the biggest Honda service centre in Tebrau, Johor Bahru.

The RM40 million facility with a build-up area of 142,389 square feet, houses sales, services, spare parts and a body and paint centre under one roof, said Honda Malaysia.

With 37 service bays, the centre will be servicing up to 36,000 vehicles per year, it added.

Honda Malaysia president and chief operating officer Roslan Abdullah said the southern region, which consists of Johor, Malacca and Negeri Sembilan, contributed about 20% of Honda Malaysia’s total sales in 2016, translating into more than 18,600 units and was the second highest sales contributor.

“Of the three states, Johor accounted for 70% of the regional sales last year,” he said, adding that Johor recorded a service intake of more than 128,000 units, up 15% compared with 2015.

In the first quarter of 2017, Honda Malaysia said it recorded a 45% increase in sales, as compared with the same period in 2016.

This enabled the brand to maintain the No.2 position in overall total industry volume and No.1 position in the non-national segment, it said.

The company added it also achieved 20.5% of market share in March.
