KUALA LUMPUR (July 10): Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd will replace the driver airbag inflators for 143,970 vehicles sold between 2006 and 2012.

In a statement today, Honda Malaysia, a 34% associate of DRB-Hicom Bhd, said the models involved were the City (2006-2012), Civic Hybrid (2007-2011), CR-V (2007-2011), Insight (2011-2012), Jazz (2009-2012) and Stream (2007-2012).

“Honda Malaysia is taking this proactive measure to ensure customer safety and deeply regrets the inconvenience caused to all customers.This precautionary effort is to enable the replacement of the driver front airbag inflator with newly-produced inflators.

"Honda Malaysia would like to assure its customers that all current selling models are not affected. Honda Malaysia continues to urge owners of Honda vehicles affected by the airbag inflator product updates to get their vehicles checked and parts replaced at any authorised Honda dealers as soon as possible upon receipt of the notification letters," Honda Malaysia said.

At 12.04pm, DRB-Hicom (fundamental: 0.3; valuation: 2.4) shares rose one sen or 0.7% to RM1.47 for a market capitalisation of RM2.84 billion.

The stock saw 368,100 shares done.
