Tepak Tari  (Sept 3 to 5)

Show times: 8.30pm (Thurs & Fri) &  3pm & 8.30pm (Sat)

Tepak Tari brings together two programmes of short works by 12 Malaysian choreographers and explores the continuum of modernity that flows through both traditional and modern genres. 

 

Path of Discovery  (Sept 6)

Venue: Auditorium DBKL, Menara DBKL

Showtime: 8.30pm

Path of Discovery is a one-off “salad de fiesta” of many fun genres and acts spanning music, dance improvisations and operatic renditions.

 

Siriyamma … Siri  (Sept 8 to 11)

Venue: Auditorium DBKL, Menara DBKL 1

Show time: 8.30pm 

Siriyamma … Siri is a production of 15 performers weaving a tapestry of different South Indian folk forms.

 

Ulvili  (Sept 12)

Venue: Auditorium DBKL, Menara DBKL 1

Showtime: 8.30pm

Ulvili intertwines mythology and contemporary reality with traditional and modern dance-theatre techniques. 

 

Anurag  (Sept 13)

Venue: Auditorium DBKL, Menara DBKL 1

Showtime: 7.30pm

Anuragi is a compelling solo Bharatanatyam by Hema Nadhini reminding us that dance and theatre are quintessentially divine arts. 

 

Gema Silapin  (Sept 16 and 17)

Venue: Auditorium DBKL, Menara DBKL 1

Showtime: 8.30m

Gema Silapin  explores two important Malay dance forms — silat and zapin on a background of intricate movements inspired by flora and fauna. 

 

NeoMargam  (Sept 18 to 20)

Venue: Auditorium DBKL, Menara DBKL 1

Showtime: 8.30pm

NeoMargam explores the traditional bharatanatyam repertoire from a modern perspective, breathing in contemporary freshness. 

 

Young Curtain  (Sept 25 and 26)

Venue: Auditorium DBKL, Menara DBKL 1

Show times: 8.30pm on Sept 25, 3pm & 8.30pm on Sept 26

Young Curtain combines the traditional form of Beijing opera and the techniques of modern theatre to tell the story of a female actor at the prime of her youth meeting a mysterious man who sells her a potion of “everlasting” youth. 

 

Aduh, Seroja  (Oct 2 to 4)

Venue: Auditorium DBKL, Menara DBKL 1

Showtime: 8.30pm

Aduh, Seroja examines the plight of four maligned and disparaged Malay heroines who were treacherous slanders of the men in their lives.

 

Pak Pandir Yo!  (Sept 19 and 20)

Venue: Panggung Sari, Istana Budaya

Showtime: 3pm & 8.30pm

Pak Pandir Yo is an edgy production, a reinterpretation of Pak Pandir, the clown sidekick of popular Malay folk stories choreographed by Alam Wakaka. 

 

Ganjam (odissi)  (Sept 23, 25 to 27)

Venue: Panggung Sari, Istana Budaya

Showtime: 8.30pm

Ganjam is a homage to the cultural heritage of Southern Odisha, which is the home of eminent medieval composers, poets and literary figures.

 

The Tree  (Oct 1 to 4)

Venue: Panggung Sari, Istana Budaya

Showtime: 8.30pm

The Tree was created by Anthony Meh and Aman Yap, and sends a message of the life-sustaining sanctity and fecundity of nature.
