SHAH ALAM (April 20): The Shah Alam High Court has today rejected the application for a judicial review on the Election Commission's (EC) move to redelineate Selangor's Petaling Jaya (PJ) Utara parliamentary constituency. This is because the Malaysian Parliament has approved the EC's final redelineation report.

Following the redelineation, the PJ Utara parliamentary constituency is now known as Damansara. High Court judge Datuk Azimah Omar said the 107 applicants have no locus standi in filing the judicial review as they are "not adversely affected" by the redelineation.

"The applicants did not prove that there is any constitutional breach or challenge that warrants the Parliament to surrender its parliamentary privilege. In view of the above, this court is not inclined in granting the application," Azimah said.

Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan, who represents the applicants, told reporters today that the applicants will appeal against the High Court's decision.

DAP national publicity secretary Tony Pua is the former MP for Petaling Jaya Utara.
