KUALA LUMPUR (March 18): Shares in Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd rose 3.45% in active trade after the firm said it will continue to operate during the 14-day Movement Control Order imposed by the government to curb the spread of the Covid-19 infection in the country.

At 10am, Hibiscus rose 1 sen to 30 sen, valuing it at RM476.47 million. Some 11.71 million shares were traded.

In a bourse filing March 17, Hibiscus said being in the energy sector, its group will continue to operate during this period.

“Hibiscus takes the threat of the Covid-19 outbreak very seriously and has enacted various directives to counteract its spread and impact.

“While we maintain operations during this period, the safety of our staff, contractors and any authorised visitors remain of paramount importance to us,” it said.
