KUALA LUMPUR (June 16): Shares of glove counters have risen once again, in tandem with the market rally seen today across the globe, on the back of a recovery from the selling seen yesterday.

The top gainer among the glove sector was Comfort Gloves Bhd, which was up 12.05% or 31 sen at RM2.88 at 11.35am, followed by Supermax Corp Bhd, which jumped 9.61% or 66 sen to RM7.53, and Careplus Group Bhd, which leaped 9.45% or 12 sen to RM1.39.

Top Glove Corp Bhd — the top gainer on the FBM KLCI today — was 5.26% or 80 sen higher at RM16, while Hartalega Holdings Bhd grew 3.25% or 38 sen to RM12.06 and Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd climbed 3.05% or 25 sen to RM8.44.

Even the Bursa Malaysia Healthcare Index has emerged as the top winner among the other sector indices, and was up 96.67 points or 4.38% to 2,304.77 points.

Affin Hwang Investment Bank Bhd analyst Ng Chi Hoong said the research firm still has a positive view on the sector, as he believes that earnings for the sector has yet to peak.

“We are expecting higher earnings (net profit) in the second half of 2020 (2H20), as selling prices continue to be on the rise,” said Ng.
