KUALA LUMPUR: An application by Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) director Datuk A Sundra Rajoo, who is facing three counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT), for the courts to determine whether he is entitled to immunity from criminal charges, has been fixed for hearing at the High Court here on Oct 15.

The date was fixed by High Court Justice Datuk Seri Mariana Yahya when the case was called up before her.

Justice Mariana also allowed Sundra Rajoo to amend his statement accompanying his application after there was no objection made by the senior federal counsel who appeared for the Attorney-General’s Chambers and other respondents in the case.

Sundra Rajoo was represented by lawyer K Shanmuga in the case who related the developments to The Edge Financial Daily.

On March 26, it was reported that Sundra Rajoo was charged at the Sessions Court with three counts of CBT regarding the centre’s funds amounting to RM1.01 million.

Sundra Rajoo, 63, claimed trial to all three charges where he claimed immunity in view of his position as an AIAC director then.

The former director is charged with CBT of RM89,700, RM621,172.50 and RM300,495 of the funds belonging to the centre at Bangunan Sulaiman, Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin here between Dec 8, 2016 and Aug 17, 2018.

If convicted he faces a minimum of two years and up to 20 years of jail and a fine.
