KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 30): Green Packet Bhd today announced key appointments to its leadership line-up, while outlining new transformative initiatives to support its long-term growth ambitions.

The group said a core strategy in its transformation agenda is to invest in innovative companies that are closely aligned to the group’s vision.

Newly-launched KipleX, led by Andrew Tan, will support start-ups and new venture builds with corporates, Green Packet said in a statement.

The unit is positioned as a new venture builder designed to support local entrepreneurs in creating innovative solutions, build robust business plans, accelerate growth traction and raise funding, the group said.

“Start-ups play a very important role in a country’s economic growth. The next generation of start-ups can grow through strategic partnerships and co-creation with the ecosystem and I am very excited to join Green Packet to drive this massive transformative purpose, not just in Malaysia but also across the Southeast Asia markets eventually,” Tan said in the statement.

Prior to Green Packet, Tan co-founded and led VLT Labs, which was later acquired by McKinsey & Company, where he last held the role of associate partner of digital.

Green Packet said in synergy with its strong pivot into the digital technology space, a new smart city & urban tech line of business will be led by Dr James Tee.

Tee, it said, will spearhead smart city development and management, in collaboration with leading global technology and real estate companies, to deliver unique products and services.

“We want to transform intelligent city living through digital technology. We will share the full suite of Green Packet’s technology infrastructure, Proptech and Fintech solutions to create a whole new living experience through leading-edge digital innovations, thus creating iconic smart cities and next-generation technology parks,” Tee said.

Tee is a senior executive with more than 20 years of experience and strong expertise in integrated real estate and smart city developments, construction and investment, asset management, insurance and management strategy consulting.

To ensure the group is fiercely aligned to its long-term vision, Green Packet said it has also appointed Ku Kok Peng as its group chief strategy officer.

In this role, Ku will lead the corporate strategy, change management, investor relations, corporate and internal communications and talent functions.

Ku joins Green Packet from Pemandu Associates, where he was executive vice president & partner and led public sector transformation, business quantum leap and turnaround in Malaysia, Asia and Africa.

Ku said: “Green Packet is at the cusp of the next massive growth leap in the fast-growing and evolving technology space.

“My focus will be to ensure strategic prioritisation, robust execution and disciplined implementation, bringing truly significant business and people transformation to the organisation.”

Commenting on the new appointments, Green Packet’s group managing director and CEO, CC Puan, said: “Our massive transformative purpose is to ensure every human must thrive with life-improving digital innovations.”

Shares in Green Packet closed unchanged at 50.5 sen today, valuing the group at RM554.77 million. The counter saw 5.72 million shares traded.
