KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 2): Singapore-headquartered ride-hailing company Grab Holdings Inc has launched GrabSupermarket, its first delivery-only supermarket in the region, as part of its continued push into grocery delivery.

In a statement today, the firm said the Klang Valley located GrabSupermarket, which began piloting a few weeks ago, serves a growing demand of online grocery shoppers in the area who are looking for a convenient and accessible way to restock their weekly groceries on GrabMart.

It said GrabSupermarket currently delivers over 2,500 products, including a wide and rapidly growing selection of household goods, pantry essentials, beauty and health essentials and freshly-sourced produce, direct from its warehouse and farms.

Grab Malaysia managing director Sean Goh said at zero delivery fees, GrabSupermarket brings affordable and high-quality fresh produce to customers' doors at maximum value and freshness within 24 hours.

“The next-day delivery model enables us to ensure the produce is delivered from our variety of partnering farms and suppliers directly to us, and from us to the customers, all within 24 hours.

“We saw an incredible take-up of GrabSupermarket among consumers during the pilot phase, with fresh produce such as fresh vegetables, fruits and poultry making up almost 50% of our orders.

“In addition, with GrabRewards, Grab’s Platinum customers save up to a further 5% off all their grocery runs with GrabSupermarket, GrabPay Credits and the Maybank Grab Mastercard Platinum Credit Card,” he said.

Goh said since commencing its limited pilot in Petaling Jaya three weeks ago, GrabSupermarket has already served thousands of deliveries.

Following today’s official launch, GrabSupermarket will be available across Klang Valley.

Moving forward, Goh said Grab plans to grow GrabSupermarket and expand to more capital cities across the country.

He said Grab will also continue investing in building an even better in-app supermarket browsing experience to deliver the best grocery shopping experience to customers.

“We have been extremely encouraged by the response from our ecosystem of partners and customers, and we are committed to continue improving to deliver a superior customer experience to all Malaysians,” he said.

GrabSupermarket is an extension of GrabMart, Grab's fast-growing instant retail and grocery delivery service available across eight Southeast Asian countries and over 70 cities.
