KUALA LUMPUR (July 28): Grab Malaysia said Malaysia's move to legalise electronic-based ride-hailing services validated the company's effort to improve the country's transportion sector and create job opportunities.

In a statement today, Grab Malaysia country head Sean Goh said the company had been committed to working with authorities to improve the country's standards of land public transportation infrastructure and services.

"This now truly validates all our efforts and the immense contribution that Grab has been making for our local community — be it improving the transport industry, bringing technology advances to the forefront or offering job opportunities.

"All of us at Grab sincerely commend and applaud the government’s progressive thinking in recognising the value we bring to the table to improve the overall growth, development and transformation of our nation," Goh said.

He said Grab was supportive of regulations which were balanced, reasonable and practical. He said such regulations had provided a level playing field for stakeholders in the ride-hailing sector.

"We pledge to continue our collaborative efforts with the authorities and look forward to continuing our efforts to engage and work cohesively with them in all the cities we are currently in (and hope to be in) to grow our services, so that we can continue to provide reliable, convenient, affordable and above all, safe transport options for all," Goh added.
