KUALA LUMPUR (March 28): The River of Life's (ROL) project delivery partner (PDP) will not have access to insider information for land purchases, according to Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor.

Tengku Adnan said in Parliament today that the government would not give insider information to the Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB)-Ekovest Bhd consortium to buy prime riverside land under the ROL project.

According to the ROL's website, the proposed development has been identified as an entry point project under Malaysia's Economic Transformation Programme.

It is indicated that the ROL involved master planning and beautification along a 10.7 km stretch of the Klang and Gombak River corridor. The ROL's website also indicated that governtment land would be identified and sold to private developers via competitive bidding.

Today, Tengku Adnan said: "The government will carry out its duty with full integrity" with regard to the ROL project.

Tengku Adnan was responding to a question by Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming.

Ong had earlier asked Tengku Adnan whether the government would allow MRCB and Ekovest to buy riverside land along the ROL project, given that the consortium was the PDP for the ROL beautification.

Ong alleged that these companies might have access to insider information, which could be unfairly used to buy tracts with higher value.
