KUALA LUMPUR (March 20): The Ministry of Finance (MoF) said the government will be channelling RM260 million in special assistance directly to all Malaysian state governments on an equal basis for the implementation of small-scale projects at the state and grassroots levels.

In a statement today, Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said RM20 million will be allocated to each state, primarily for small projects involving G1 to G4 contractors, including repairs of public infrastructure and facilities, road repairs, social amenity programmes as well as the improvement of public housing.

The allocation also includes works in relation to the maintenance of business premises to ensure small traders and hawkers have a conducive environment to carry out activities in local authority areas, the minister said.

The RM260 million assistance forms part of the PEMERKASA stimulus package announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Wednesday.
