KUALA LUMPUR (June 8): Global semiconductor manufacturing equipment billings fell 13% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2016 to US$8.3 billion (from US$9.5 billion), said the US-based Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI).

In a statememnt on its website June 6, SEMI said The billings figure was 3% higher than the fourth quarter of 2015.

The data is gathered jointly with the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ) from over 95 global equipment companies that provide data on a monthly basis.

SEMI said worldwide semiconductor equipment bookings were US$9.4 billion in the first quarter of 2016.

It said the figure was 2% lower than the same quarter a year ago and 5% higher than the bookings figure for the fourth quarter of 2015.
