KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 7): Worldwide semiconductor manufacturing equipment billings rose 14% year-on-year and reached US$11.0 billion in the third quarter of 2016, according to the U.S. based Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI).
In a statement on its website Dec 5, SEMI said the billings figure was 5% higher than the second quarter of 2016.
The data is gathered jointly with the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ) from over 95 global equipment companies that provide data on a monthly basis.
Meanwhile, it said global semiconductor equipment bookings were $11.3 billion in the third quarter of 2016.
It said the figure is 30% higher than the same quarter a year ago and 5% lower than the bookings figure for the second quarter of 2016.
