KUALA LUMPUR (July 26): The rising adoption of remote and hybrid work models is a prominent factor in growing demand for professional headset products globally, according to Frost & Sullivan.

In its “Global Professional Headset Market” report released on Monday (July 25), the firm said that as “work from anywhere” gains popularity, the new usage of corded and cordless headsets proliferates across industries, creating long-term opportunities.

It said the market is expected to garner US$4.04 billion (about RM18.01 billion) in revenue by 2028, from US$2.21 billion in 2021, expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 9%.

Frost & Sullivan said the global professional headset market earned revenue of US$2.21 billion in 2021, a 6.4% increase over an unprecedented year in 2020.

It said remote and hybrid work continued to trigger demand for professional headset products during 2021, with evolving communications and collaboration usage scenarios.

The firm said the Covid-19 pandemic had reinforced the paradigm shift towards “work from anywhere” or hybrid/flexible working, with new usage scenarios proliferating in various industries, including healthcare, education, and government, creating long-term opportunities for professional headsets.

Frost & Sullivan information and communications technology research director and fellow Alaa Saayed said software-based business communications and collaboration services are the primary growth drivers in the professional headset market.

“Additionally, innovation in headset features and capabilities, such as advanced noise-canceling technologies and connectivity improvements, enhances the appeal of using them,” he said.

Saayed said cordless Bluetooth personal computer universal serial bus (PC USB) and unified communications and collaboration (UCC) headsets will witness growth due to increased benefits of mobility in hybrid work settings.

“However, with more organisations likely to equip their workers with medium- to high-level enterprise corded devices in the future, corded PC USB and UCC [headsets] will experience notable traction in the low end of the market,” he said.
