KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 14): Payment solutions provider GHL Systems Bhd's payment touchpoints across Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia will now be able to offer Buy-Now-Pay-Later (BNPL) option to consumers, as GHL partners with BNPL platform Atome to expand its payment offerings across the region.

In a statement today, the group said the regional partnership enables more merchants across Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia to offer BNPL payment options to consumers, and addresses increasing consumer demand for deferred payment methods.

This alternative payment solution will further enhance customers’ shopping and payment experience, and at the same time, support local retailers and businesses across the region with increased sales amidst the retail crunch during the Covid-19 pandemic, the group said.

“The pandemic-driven shift to online shopping has created an urgent need to improve & boost the ecommerce customer experience.

“This partnership will broaden the payment experience across thousands of point-of-sale checkouts with the right assortment of payment options, throughout GHL’s vast merchant network in the region,” said GHL’s Group CEO, Sean Hesh.

The group added that merchants in Malaysia and Singapore who opted for Atome’s BNPL, which offers consumers the option of spreading their purchases into three easy monthly payments at zero-interest, experienced an average 17% increase in their ticket order size.

Besides helping to increase order value, this BNPL option also promotes customer loyalty by making purchases more affordable, said GHL.

“Our regional partnership (with GHL) will support merchants in enabling a superior shopping and checkout experience for consumers, both in store and online websites, which in turn will accelerate merchant business growth and recovery as we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Atome CEO, David Chen.

Shares in GHL finished three sen or 1.59% lower at RM1.86 today, giving it a market capitalization of RM2.12 billion.
