KUALA LUMPUR (Sep 30): Travellers International Hotel Group Inc, a joint venture between Genting Hong Kong Ltd and Alliance Global Group Inc, plans to expand its hotel portfolio in the Philippines, The Philippine Star reported today.

The Philippine Star, quoting Travellers president Kingston U. Sian, reported that the firm planned to open three globally-renowned hotel brands by 2017.

Sian said the Sheraton and Westin hotels under Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels and Resort besides the Hilton brand were set to join the Travellers group’s existing portfolio, which included Marriott Hotel Manila.

Travellers is also the owner and operator of Resorts World Manila and Resorts World Bayshore City (RWBC) in the Philippines.

“Sheraton and Hilton will be an exciting addition to Resorts World Manila, which we target to complete by the fourth quarter of 2017,” Sian was quoted as saying.

He said RWBC, which will be three times the size of Resorts World Manila, will have a Westin entity.

According to the news report, the Westin hotel is targeted to have about 600 rooms, while Sheraton Hotel Manila and Hilton Manila will have around 390 and 355 rooms respectively.

“The Hilton and Sheraton Hotels are currently under construction at Resorts World Manila, which is the country’s first integrated gaming, entertainment, leisure and hospitality resort situated on an 11.5-hectare property across the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City,” said the report.

The Philippines-based Alliance Global's website indicates that the group is one of the country's largest conglomerates.

The group, controlled by the Tan family, is involved in food and beverage, besides real estate development operations.

Meanwhile, Singapore and Hong Kong-listed Genting Hong Kong undertakes a part of Malaysia-based Genting group's international casino and resort operations.

Genting group, which owns the Resorts World Genting in Malaysia, has also replicated its operations in Singapore and New York.
