KUALA LUMPUR (July 1): G Capital Bhd’s 70%-owned unit Solarcity Malaysia Sdn Bhd had completed the installation and commenced operation of a 7.0MW peak (MWp) solar photovoltaic electric power generation system for a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Evergreen Fibreboard Bhd on Friday (July 1).

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said Solarcity and Evergreen have accepted July 1 to be the commercial operation date for the plant at Parit Raja Industrial Estate in Batu Pahat, Johor.

G Capital said the plant will be contributing revenue and earnings to it over a span of 25 years according to the agreed terms in the PPA.

As of May 8, The group has secured letters of awards and PPAs under the solar generation division amounting to no less than 30MWp, its past filing said.

Shares of G Capital fell two sen or 3.8% to close at 50 sen per share, giving it a market capitalisation of RM160.34 million.
