German technology meets Thai cuisine

MIELE Malaysia and Erawan Classic Thai & Fusion have recently unveiled an exciting partnership that can be seen as a celebration of both cuisine and innovation. Along with a new chef’s table menu, the recently renovated restaurant showcased a new look complete with state-of-the-art Miele appliances at an exclusive media launch on March 11 at Erawan.

As a passionate supporter of the local food scene, Miele has made a conscious effort to work closely with acclaimed restaurants in Malaysia. Members of the media were there to witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding  (MoU) between Miele general manager Cassandra Teo and chef Korn of Erawan. The partnership with Erawan is the first collaboration. Having earned second place in the last edition of The Miele Guide, Erawan was a natural choice as a Miele partner. Chef Korn will soon be seen headlining events at the Miele Gallery at Menara SapuraKencana to showcase recipes that will feature in future Miele cookbooks.

As part of the partnership, Miele has equipped Erawan with a range of state-of-the-art appliances including an induction hob, coffee machine, combination steam oven, steam oven and warming drawers. The new look and open kitchen concept will enable the chef to conduct cooking demonstrations for patrons of the restaurant.

At the media launch, we were treated to an omakase style eight-course meal prepared with the newly installed Miele appliances. There were inventive dishes such as roast spring chicken with papaya salad and glutinous rice, duck breast in five spice with paneang sauce and cod in galangal sauce with Mexican creeper flower.

Teo_KornTeo commented, “We are very glad to be able to embark on this partnership with Erawan Classic Thai & Fusion and the wonderful chef Korn, and to furnish his beautiful restaurant with the best of Miele appliances. Miele is proud to showcase that although all appliances are fully made in Germany, they can be seamlessly used to produce amazing and delicate Asian cuisine, as demonstrated by Erawan. We await with bated breath the sensational epicurean treats that chef Korn will invent with his new suite of appliances. Miele will also continue to support the local culinary landscape for the years to come.”

With this partnership, fans of Miele and Erawan should look forward to dishes in the near future created from German technology and innovation combined with Thai fusion recipes.
