KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 28): Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 44 positive Covid-19 cases were classified as brought in dead (BID), as they had died before they could be admitted into hospital.

According to Noor Hisham, there were a total of 238 Covid-19-related deaths reported during the second and third waves of infections, including the above-mentioned BID cases.

"For the second wave [of Covid-19 infections], 136 deaths were recorded, meanwhile 102 deaths were recorded in the third wave. Nine BID cases were reported in the second wave.

"For the third wave, specifically in Sabah, there were 35 BID cases," said Noor Hisham at his daily media briefing today.

He added that the ministry had sent forensic experts to Sabah to deal with the BID cases.

Sabah has continuously reported Covid-19-related deaths in the past three weeks. In this month alone, Sabah has recorded a total of 101 deaths.

The cumulative Covid-19 deaths in the Bornean state now stand at 114, or 46.4% of the total 246 deaths in the country.

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said 949 health workers have tested positive for the deadly virus since the start of the pandemic in January, adding that these health workers contracted the disease from the community.
