KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 11): Former 1MDB chief executive officer (CEO) Mohd Hazem Abdul Rahman, who was told to undergo a Covid-19 swab test after complaining of fever yesterday, has tested negative for the coronavirus, the High Court here was told today during the 1MDB-Tanore trial.

Deputy public prosecutor Akram Gharib informed presiding judge Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah that the 10th prosecution witness, Hazem, will be available to take the stand on Monday, when the trial resumes.

Yesterday, the court was informed that Hazem had a fever and could not make it to the hearing. Subsequently, Justice Sequerah instructed Hazem to undergo a Covid-19 swab test.

Following that, the judge asked the prosecution to call up their next witness — former deputy chief secretary to the Cabinet Tan Sri Mazidah Abdul Majid.

In the 1MDB-Tanore trial, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been charged with four counts of power abuse to enrich himself with RM2.3 billion from 1MDB, and 21 counts of laundering the same amount. He faces up to 20 years' imprisonment if convicted.
