KUALA LUMPUR (July 26): Malaysia’s leading fine watch retailer Swiss Watch Gallery, together with Florentine high-end luxury watchmaker Panerai,  celebrated the official opening of Panerai’s first standalone boutique in Malaysia at the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur yesterday (July 25).

The 1,574 sq ft boutique — fourth in Southeast Asia and 81st in the world — was designed by leading Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola, said a statement issued by the Valiram Group, which owns and operates Swiss Watch Gallery.

“The debut of first standalone and our latest global retail and brand concept here in Kuala Lumpur, seeks to reinforce Panerai’s presence in Malaysia and in the Southeast Asia region,”  Giacomo Cinelli, Panerai Southeast Asia & Oceania Managing Director, said in the statement.

Valiram Executive Director Sharan Valiram said the new partnership further consolidates the group’s position as a leading luxury watch retailer in the region.

“We look forward to working hand-in-hand with Panerai in providing exceptional experience for our valued customers in this state-of-the-art boutique,” he said.

Designed with an ideal blend of tradition and of the future, the standalone boutique seeks to immerse clients in a sophisticated environment and invites them to discover the brand’s heritage, craftsmanship and technical expertise, the statement said.

“Recurrent elements in all Panerai boutiques like walnut wood and brass – a metal which recalls the world of sea and ships — together with delicate veiningfloor tiles that represent lightness and wavy grooves on the Mafalda chairs have been purposefully selected to reflect the philosophy of the Florentine brand,” it added.

At the event, the more than 100 guests were introduced to the new Panerai collection “which recalls an epic, hostile underwater realm with multi-sensory installation featuring impactful imagery of mighty marine creatures such as the ravenous sharks and venomous octopuses, amidst the aquatic habitat of rocks, sand and shells”.

Gracing the event were  Cinelli, Sharan Valiram, Italian embassy’s Charge D’ Affaires Silvia Marrara and Pavilion Retail and Leasing Senior Director Lovell Ho.

“Presented at the opening event were the Submersible collection watches, including the latest Panerai Marina Militare Carbotech TM 47MM (PAM00979), a professional underwater watch with decidedly military look dedicated to the historical partnership between the brand and the Italian navy.

“Also showcased for the very first time in Malaysia are four new Radiomir watches — Radiomir 45MM (PAM00995), Radiomir 48MM (PAM00997), Radiomir GMT 45MM (PAM00998) and Radiomir GMT Power Reserve 45MM (PAM00999) – with a definitive military green dial that reinforces their strong historical identity.

“Available exclusively at Panerai boutiques, the new Radiomir watches stand out from a mechanical point of view with a wide range of calibres, all entirely executed by Panerai Manufacture in Neuchatel,” the statement said.
