KUALA LUMPUR (July 17): Petronas Gas Bhd (PetGas) has notified that the fire that broke out in one of its gas processing plants in Paka, Terengganu yesterday, has been fully extinguished.

In a statement today, PetGas said the fire started at 7.43pm yesterday and was fully extinguished at 4.30am today.

"We are currently working closely with the relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the incident," it said.

PetGas assured that the situation was under control and that no injuries or fatalities have been recorded.

"The incident posed no immediate threat to the surrounding communities with no health-related risk.

"There is also no major impact to PGB's (PetGas') overall operations as our other gas processing facilities will ensure uninterrupted gas supply to our customers," it added.

At 3.40pm, shares of PetGas were trading down 4 sen or 0.23% at RM17.08 after 74,800 shares were traded.
