KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 30): The Finance Ministry will address the issues that have been raised by the opposition on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) when the ministry rounds up the budget debate next week, said Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan today.

"I will answer (to questions) on 1MDB when rolling up the budget debate next week. You have to wait,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

He was commenting on the various concerns raised by the opposition over 1MDB's debts including the letter of support that had been highlighted recently.

"I am in the midst of gathering all (concerns) that have been raised by the opposition that falls under the (finance) ministry," he said.

Ahmad also said Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah had directed him to debate the budget speech and take questions on 1MDB from the opposition.

All the ministries are set to round-up their budget speech from Nov 3 to 6. The Finance Ministry is expected to deliver its round-up speech next Thursday.

Opposition lawmakers in Parliament when debating the budget speech had questioned the prime minister for failing to address 1MDB's huge debt in his Budget 2015 speech recently.

In a written response to DAP secretary-general and Member of Parliament for Bagan Lim Guan Eng on Tuesday, Najib had said 1MDB’s debt as at March 2013 totalled RM36.25 billion.

Najib, who is also finance minister, had said besides the RM5.8 billion of the company’s loans that has the government guarantee, 1MDB’s other financial liabilities were its own responsibility.
