Gotta catch ’em all! Grab some Pokéballs and prepare yourself for an adventure with Pokémon as it takes over Resorts World Genting this Christmas and Chinese New Year. From Dec 1, 2018 to Feb 28, 2019, the Pokémon Festival @ Resorts World Genting will bring the colourful creatures from Nintendo’s bestselling video game series 6,000 ft (1.83km) above sea level to frolic, play, and captivate guests with their amazing powers and adorable nature.

“Resorts World Genting has always strived to be a magical wonderland for all our visitors, and for the next three months, we will become an enchanted Pokémon wonderland, ready for fans to fulfil the Pokémon and Trainer code — Gotta Catch ’Em All!,” said Kevin Tann, Resorts World Genting vice- president of promotions and entertainment. “Spread throughout the halls of SkyAvenue this holiday will be amazing ways to interact with many iconic Pokémon species, from life-sized figurines that make for perfect Instagram photos to a massive 6m-tall inflatable Pikachu. It is because Pokémon is beloved by millions of people of all ages that we are thrilled to be able to offer our guests an opportunity to get up close and personal with their favourite Pokémon to create new, enduring memories.”

The Genting Pokémon Festival was launched last Friday to the eager crowd by Susumu Fukunaga, corporate officer of The Pokémon Company, as well as representatives of Resorts World Genting: executive vice president of leisure and hospitality Datuk Edward Holloway, Tann, vice-president of resort communications and public relations Katherine Chew and vice-president of retail and tenancy Angela Hoe. Visitors saw a very cute, or as they say in Japan “kawaii”, dance by eight Pikachu which frolicked around the stage to the delight of the crowd. The guests of honour also had a lighting ceremony for the world’s tallest Pokémon Christmas tree, which lit up the 40-foot-tall spectacle that was adorned with the likes of Pikachu, Charmander, Snorlax, and Eevee, among others. A giant inflatable 6m-high Pikachu, surrounded by smaller Pikachu plushies, will make the Skytropolis Funland its temporary home starting Dec 8.

Pikachu Parade takes place at various times daily on Level 1 of SkyAvenue mall, featuring eight life-sized dancing Pikachus. For Christmas, the parade will be a winter-themed extravaganza, with Santarina, Giant Xmas Balls, and elves on two mini-floats. For Chinese New Year, the parade switches to a raucous red-and-gold celebration. The Pokémon Pop-Up store at the SkyAvenue mall will feature a huge array of premium merchandise and memorabilia imported directly from the Pokémon Centre in Tokyo, Japan.

Meanwhile, Resorts World Genting is taking a Mediterranean theme to its Christmas celebrations with a Wintry Santorini above the Clouds from Nov 28 to Jan 1, 2019. The lofty halls of the SkyAtrium in SkyAvenue mall have been transformed into a Santorini-inspired village, decorated with sparkling lights and snow-covered trees. The smell of gingerbread and spices will fill the air, as guests explore this special Genting Christmas Santorini Village to indulge in Christmas treats and hunt for the perfect Christmas present for their family and loved ones.
