KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 14): Baker Tilly International Ltd’s unit Baker Tilly Malaysia announced that Ferrier Hodgson MH Sdn Bhd has joined the Baker Tilly Malaysia network under a union which marks the culmination of both corporate advisory firms' strategic working relationship due to co-branding initiatives over the years.

In a statement on Wednesday (Oct 13), Baker Tilly Malaysia said that as Ferrier Hodgson continues to make headways in what is its third decade in Malaysia, it is fitting for the brand to now officially be part of the Baker Tilly Malaysia Network.

"With the synergy brought about by the combined expertise of over 50 partners and directors within the group, Baker Tilly Malaysia is poised to be the largest mid-tier professional services firm in Malaysia,” Baker Tilly Malaysia claimed.

Since Ferrier Hodgson’s establishment in Malaysia, Ferrier Hodgson has steadily gained a reputation as one of the top advisory firms in Malaysia, according to Baker Tilly Malaysia.

"The string of successes in helping companies rehabilitate and regularise their financial position over the last decade has also made Ferrier Hodgson a leader in its field,”  Baker Tilly Malaysia said.

Baker Tilly Malaysia group managing partner Andrew Heng said the joining of forces between Baker Tilly Malaysia and Ferrier Hodgson has been a long time coming.

"The depth and breadth of experience that we now have has allowed us to be at the forefront of the changing corporate restructuring landscape in Malaysia. I have high hopes of what we can achieve together,” Heng said.

Ferrier Hodgson managing partner Patrick McPhee said the partnership between Baker Tilly Malaysia and Ferrier Hodgson is a strategic and cultural fit for both firms.

"Clients are increasingly looking for specialised advice and nimble service and this partnership provides just that — we will continue in our areas of specialisation while leveraging on the skills and reach of Baker Tilly to deliver a greater breadth of solutions,” McPhee said.

According to the statement, Baker Tilly Malaysia, which has more than 40 years of experience in Malaysia, is a member of the global network of Baker Tilly International Ltd, the members of which are separate and independent legal entities. 

"The Baker Tilly brand is a US$4.04 billion (about RM16.78 billion) global organisation with 740 offices across 148 territories worldwide,” Baker Tilly Malaysia said.
