KUALA LUMPUR (May 13): Former president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh has been nominated as director in MBM Resources Bhd by the automotive parts manufacturer's largest shareholder Med-Bumikar Mara Sdn Bhd.

MBM said in a Bursa Malaysia filing today that Med-Bumikar Mara had on Friday (May 10) given notice of its intention to propose his appointment as MBM independent non-executive director during MBM's annual general meeting on May 29.

Besides Aminar, Med-Bumikar Mara had also proposed Wong Fay Lee's appointment as MBM non-independent non-executive director.

MBM said: "The board of directors (of MBM) will take the necessary action accordingly and will make the appropriate announcement in relation thereto in due course."

According to MBM's latest annual report, Med-Bumikar Mara owned a 49.5% direct stake in MBM as at March 29, 2019. The report also shows that Med-Bumikar Mara held a 0.57% indirect stake in MBM.

Perodua's website indicates that MBM owns a 20% stake in Perodua. According to Med-Bumikar Mara's notice of intention, Aminar was Perodua managing director in 2010. He was then redesignated as president and CEO between 2013 and 2018.

The notice of intention also showed that Wong was MBM group head of risk, legal and compliance between 2011 and 2018. Prior to MBM, she was Federal Auto Holdings Bhd managing director from 2016 to 2017.

Med-Bumikar Mara said Aminar and Wong had duly consented to their respective nominations.
