Announcing this in a statement today, Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Bhd (MIDF) said Silva is a well-known corporate figure.

He has worked in areas like banking, finance and investments, strategic management, business building and financial sector development, besides cross-border investing, risk and portfolio management, and corporate restructuring, it said.

"I have had the pleasure of working with Datuk Dominic over the years as my client, shareholder and colleague and am thrilled that he is joining the MIDF group. All of us here look forward to his arrival and to the new ideas that he will bring," said MIDF group managing director Datuk Charon Mokhzani in the statement.

Silva was most recently a director of DMY Capital. Until 2017, he was the head of investments at Khazanah, where he was also an executive director for nine years.

He has also served on the boards of Astro Holdings Sdn Bhd (Malaysia), various banks and companies in the CIMB Group, the Infrastructure Development Finance Co Ltd of India, and several other notable organisations, MIDF added.
