KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 10): The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has emerged as a substantial shareholder of Eastern & Oriental Bhd (E&O), after buying 2 million shares of the company.

E&O told Bursa Malaysia in a filing today that the EPF bought the shares last Friday (Sept 05), however it did not disclose the price for the transaction.

With the latest acquisition, EPF had raised its stake to 5.21% or 57.91 million shares in the property developer.

In a separate announcement, E&O said CIMB Commerce Trustee Bhd has ceased as a substantial shareholder of the company, following the disposing of 3.44 million shares last Friday.

Shares of E&O closed at RM2.92, down 0.5 sen or 1.68%, with 2.75 million shares done.
