KUALA LUMPUR (March 10): An Employees Provident Fund (EPF) member who visited the pension fund's branch in Jalan Raja Laut here has been tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) on March 3.

In a statement today, EPF said it has today been informed that the member was confirmed infected with Covid-19 and admitted for further treatment. The person had visited the Jalan Raja Laut branch on Feb 27 at 2pm and left 30 minutes later.

"Presently, we are unable to confirm if the member was already infected at the time of the member’s visit to our branch. We have identified the staff who may have had contact with the member and sent them for testing.

"The remaining staff of the said branch have been placed in quarantine. The EPF is working closely with the health authorities on any follow-up measures required," it added.

As a proactive measure, the EPF branch in Jalan Raja Laut will be closed until Friday (March 13) to conduct thorough disinfection of the affected area and its vicinity. It will reopen on Monday.

"The EPF wishes to reassure all members that we have initiated cleaning protocols at all branches since February to manage the risk posed by Covid-19.

"Meanwhile, our counters at other EPF branches will operate as usual. Unless necessary for face-to-face counter transactions, members are encouraged to perform transactions via the i-Akaun application."
