Eco World Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld) is working closely with Aged Care Group (ACG) to create a holistic living environment, along with an integrated health and wellness concept, at its Eco Sanctuary township near Kota Kemuning, Selangor. The Eco Sanctuary Care Hub was established last September with services offered by ACG.

Taking it a step further, EcoWorld and ACG signed two memorandums of understanding with Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital (KMUH) of Taiwan to promote cross-border collaboration on health and wellness. The collaboration includes teaching, research and talent cultivation and exchange.

KMUH’s expertise is in health and wellness-related training, promoting awareness and providing medical-related advice to the community. EcoWorld will leverage KMUH’s expertise on health and wellness while ACG will benefit from its knowledge about caregiving.

“We are always raising the bar when it comes to creating value in our developments, and the setting up of the care hub at The Parque Residences was a first for EcoWorld. As we kick-start the Life@EcoWorld programme, we are thrilled to collaborate with KMUH to raise the bar further in offering a more comprehensive health and wellness service in a holistic environment like Eco Sanctuary,” EcoWorld president and CEO Datuk Chang Khim Wah said in a press statement.

Various new elements have been introduced under Life@EcoWorld to enhance the liveability of the developer’s developments. This includes digital-enabled services and integrated wellness and care components to meet the needs of its clients in their everyday lives.

The pilot project started at The Parque Residences, a high-rise residential block in the Eco Sanctuary township.

Targeted at people of different professions, The Parque Residences offers unique “ageing in place” services such as a care hub with 24/7 nurse station and monthly doctor consultation, residential units providing accessibility with furnished features, user-friendly bathrooms with handrails, complimentary shuttle services within the residential area where a shopping mall is located nearby, housekeeping and meals delivery and personalised health and wellness services, including medical escort, physiotherapy, blood pressure and sugar level monitoring.

“Ageing in place” refers to an individual’s ability to live independently in one’s own home and community safely regardless of age and income level.

The Co-Wellness in Eco Sanctuary Mall was another project implemented in the same township. Launched last December, it offers wider community health and wellness support.

“It has been a vision realised for ACG to be able to integrate the concept of medical and health in a multigenerational community like Eco Sanctuary where the elderly can enjoy healthcare services without leaving their homes, their children or their living environment,” said ACG managing director Datuk Frank Choo.

Malaysia is the second Southeast Asian country after Vietnam to collaborate with Kaohsiung Group.

KMUH superintendent Dr Ming-Feng Hou said, “We are delighted with the collaboration and look forward to a beneficial partnership of exchange of knowledge between two countries.”

KMUH’s medical system is used in three hospitals and one medical university in Taiwan, namely Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital, Kaohsiung Municipal Ta-Tung Hospital, Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital and Kaohsiung Medical University.

EcoWorld has also introduced Life Space — an area to enhance community building and organise activities for the community, including the elderly — at Eco Ardence in Shah Alam.
