KUALA LUMPUR (April 26): There were 15 new positive cases reported in Kuala Lumpur today, where the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) has been implemented, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there was one new case at Menara City One Plaza, bringing the total to 52 cases, while Malayan Mansion saw five new cases, translating to 12 total cases there.

At the Northern part of the city centre area and the wholesale market area near Selayang, nine new positive cases were confirmed, bringing the total to 55 cases.

At the tahfiz schools and madrasah, where the MoH had undertaken active tracing, a total of 341 infections were confirmed as of yesterday, representing 5.47% of the 6,229 individuals tested.

MoH announced active Covid cases with high transmission risks have been declining for 14 consecutive days. The country's active cases dropped to 1,820 as of noon today — the lowest level since March 27.

During his daily press conference earlier today, Noor Hisham reported a total of 38 new cases, bringing the country’s tally to 5,780.

Meanwhile, 100 patients recovered and were discharged from treatment today. Malaysia’s total number of recoveries increased to 3,862, equivalent to 66.8% against the total infection number. 

There are currently 36 confirmed cases being treated in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), of whom 15 patients require respiratory assistance.

No new death was reported today, marking the second day of this month without new fatalities, after April 20. The country’s death toll is currently at 98 cases.
