KUALA LUMPUR (March 3): The Ministry of Health (MoH) reported 11 new clusters of Covid-19 infections today, of which nine are linked to workplaces.

Four of the clusters were found in Selangor, namely the Jalan Perubatan cluster in Hulu Langat with 13 infections; the Jalan Utarid cluster which spans Kuala Langat and Petaling with 16 infections; the Tapak Bina Jalan MP cluster in Petaling (12) and the Balakong Satu cluster in Hulu Langat (10).

The remaining workplace clusters are the Jalan DPB Lima cluster in Johor Bahru, Johor with 32 infections; the Jalan Sikamat Lama cluster in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan (12); the Jalan PKNK 1/6 cluster in Kuala Muda, Kedah (29); the Sri Jelutung cluster in Pekan, Pahang (30) and the Jalan Bachok cluster involving Bachok and Pasir Puteh in Kelantan (14).

MoH director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement that of the two non-workplace clusters, the Kampung Gedang cluster is linked to community infections, while the Jalan Anak Gasing cluster is a high-risk group cluster.

The Kampung Gedang cluster, which spans Alor Gajah and Melaka Tengah in Melaka, Petaling in Selangor, as well as Johor Bahru in Johor, has 35 infections, while the Jalan Anak Gasing cluster in Petaling, Selangor has 20 infections.

To date, 1,163 clusters have been detected, of which 487 are active and 676 have been declared ended.

The clusters that reported the highest number of new cases today were the Batu Empat cluster with 198 new cases, followed by the Jalan Pelabuhan cluster (128) and the Jalan DPB Lima cluster (32).

Malaysia reported 1,745 new Covid-19 infections today, the third straight day with less than 2,000 cases. This brought the cumulative confirmed infections in the country to 305,880, from 115,078 as of Jan 1.
