KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 25): The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced that it has detected eight new Covid-19 clusters as of noon today, of which five are linked to workplaces in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Pahang.

Three workplace clusters were identified in Selangor, namely the Industri 19 cluster involving Petaling and Gombak with 34 infections; the SS Lapan cluster which spans Klang, Kuala Selangor and Petaling with 36 infections and the Industri Jalan Empat cluster involving Hulu Langat, Klang and Sepang with 12 infections.

Two more workplace clusters are the Tapak Bina Indera Mahkota in Kuantan, Pahang with 10 infections and the Jalan Putra Silang cluster which spans Kepong, Cheras and Lembah Pantai in Kuala Lumpur as well as Bentong in Pahang with eight infections.

The remaining clusters are the Lorong Murni cluster in Seberang Perai Utara, Penang with 21 infections, the Kampung Mak Teh cluster in Batang Padang, Perak with 16 infections and the Jalan Ho Pin cluster which spans Samarahan, Kuching and Serian in Sarawak with 14 infections.

To date, 1,111 Covid-19 clusters have been reported in the country while 612 clusters have been declared ended.

Malaysia’s daily new Covid-19 cases dropped to 1,924 today — the lowest level in 51 days, according to the Ministry of Health (MOH).

The last time the country recorded daily new infections below the 2,000 mark was on Jan 4 with 1,741 cases.

Meanwhile, a total of 3,752 new recoveries were recorded, outnumbering the new confirmed cases today. This brought active cases down to 28,837 — lowest level since Jan 11 with 28,554 cases.

Selangor, the most populated State, reported the most number of confirmed Covid-19 infections at 666, followed by Johor with 257 cases, Sarawak (219), Kuala Lumpur (218), Penang (162), Perak (120), Sabah (93) Negeri Sembilan (62), Kelantan (44), Kedah (29), Melaka (22), Pahang (19), Terengganu (six), Labuan (four) Putrajaya (two) and Perlis (one).

MOH reported 12 more deaths as of noon today; nine cases were from Selangor, two from Sarawak and one from Penang.

The country’s Covid-19 death toll rose to 1,100 from 474 as at Jan 1.

The total number of confirmed cases stood at 293,698 versus 263,761 total recoveries.
