KUALA LUMPUR (April 1): ACE Market-listed entreprise data management and storage solutions firm Kronologi Asia Bhd has appointed Edmond Tay Nam Hiong as its chief executive officer (CEO), with immediate effect.

Tay, 48, a trained accountant, founded Quantum Storage (India) Pte Ltd (QSI) in 2012, and in 2016, became part of Kronologi's management team since the merger of QSI into the group.

Held through QSI, Tay owns an indirect 6.071% stake representing 24.21 million shares in Kronologi.

Tay formerly sat on the IT Standardisation Board with Info-communications Development Authority of Singapore on e-payment and security chapter and as well as Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation.

In a press statement, Kronologi chairman Geoffrey Ng said as the group is at a growing stage, the renewed leadership will support the implementation of the group's corporate strategy successfully and take advantage of market opportunities ahead.

"We are fortunate to have someone of Edmond's caliber and experience step up to lead Kronologi.

"Edmond is a technology visionary with a proven track record for business execution. He is a strong communicator who is customer focused with deep leadership capabilities. Furthermore, as part of the Kronologi management team for the past few years, Edmond has a solid understanding of our solutions, products and markets," Ng added.

With Tay's appointment, Teo Chong Meng Philip Dominic will relinquish his role as acting CEO and continue as the group's chief technology officer.

Teo has been acting group CEO since October 2015, following the resignation of co-founder Piti Pramotedham's as chairman cum CEO in September that year, due to health reasons.

Shares in Kronologi Asia settled unchanged at 59.5 sen after 1.77 million shares were done at the noon break today, for a market capitalisation of RM235.30 million.
