KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 12): Coway’s subscriber-based business model has proven to be incredibly successful for the South Korean white goods manufacturer, and in Malaysia, it has repaid its good fortune with a slew of community support initiatives throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. In our cover story this week, Coway Malaysia managing director Kyle Choi says giving back is part of the company’s DNA, and details the company's efforts to assist the nation as it battles against the pandemic.

Also in this issue is a fascinating Q&A with Jeremy Lim, who is executive director of watch retailer and distributor Cortina Holdings Ltd — he talks about the new Patek Philippe boutique in Kuala Lumpur and how the company has coped through the pandemic. If you haven't made it to the new boutique yet in JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur, we recommend a visit post haste. And if you're already in the city, a new tea house with a Peranakan menu should be stop number two. Lady Yi's Tea House, which opens on Dec 16, 2021 is the brainchild of Masteron Group and Federal International Holdings Bhd managing director Datuk Choy Wai Hin, and a labour of love for his daughter Choy Yuin Yi. Then, pop over to The Zhongshan Building for the debut art exhibition by Artists of SEA.

For a shopping spot, look up The Sisterhood Studios' embroidered masks or perhaps, Barang2 Jai at Kasa Suasa, although we have to say Bvlgari's bejewelled version of MB&F's FlyingT is a true indulgence. We also recommend our Weekly Brief column to find out what the word of 2021 is, and our Newswired column to ascertain if virtual influencers may just take over the world soon.

Read more about it in The Edge Malaysia weekly’s Dec 13, 2021 edition of Options.
