KUALA LUMPUR (March 28): EA Technique (M) Bhd has filed a US$7.06 million (RM27.38 million) suit against Amaniaga Resources Sdn Bhd for alleged breach of contract to provide services for a floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel.

The group had filed a writ of summons together with a statement of claim on March 20, 2018 for a claim arising out of an award under the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act (CIPAA) on March 5, EA Technique said in a filing with the stock exchange today.

According to EA Technique, Amaniaga had breached a contract for the provision of transportation and offshore installation service of a FSO vessel with its mooring and riser system for full field development, North Malay Basin, which was entered into on Jan 29, 2016.

"In the event that the company loses the suit, the financial impact shall be limited to the amount awarded by the court," EA Technique said.

It added that the suit — fixed for case management on April 3, 2018 at the Kuala Lumpur High Court — is not expected to materially affect the finance and operations of the company for financial year ending Dec 31, 2018.

EA Technique closed unchanged at 35 sen today, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM176.4 million.
