KUALA LUMPUR: Delima Oil Products Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of FGV Holdings Bhd, has won a US$11.7 million (RM47.74 million) lawsuit against Safitex General Trading LLC over outstanding payments.

The Dubai Court of First Instance ordered Safitex to pay Delima Oil the US$11.7 million with 9% annual interest until the date of full settlement on March 23, 2019, FGV said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Monday.

Delima Oil first sought the same amount in March 2018 over alleged outstanding payments by Safitex, which had entered into contracts with Delima Oil to purchase refined crude palm oil and margarine.

Notably, issues concerning Safitex’s dealings with Delima Oil were among the accusations against FGV’s former group president and chief executive officer Datuk Zakaria Arshad.

Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, then FGV chairman, asked Zakaria to resign in May 2017 on the allegation of breaching the corporate governance code by allowing the practice of sales to Safitex without letters of credit.

FGV shares rose five sen or 4.27% to RM1.22, with a market value of RM4.45 billion.
