KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he has no idea where Low Taek Jho is, despite the country’s top cop saying negotiations are ongoing to bring the fugitive businessman, better known as Jho Low, back to Malaysia.

“I cannot vouch for the IGP (Inspector-General of Police). He must have known where the person is, I don’t know,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby yesterday, when asked for an update on the government’s effort to bring back Low.

On Sunday, IGP Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador reportedly said talks were ongoing with the country currently harbouring Low, widely believed to be the mastermind behind the scandal that enveloped 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

On investigations into the sex video featuring a figure who allegedly looked like Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Dr Mahathir said the only update from the IGP he has received so far was that the probe is still ongoing.

“He (IGP) said he is in the process of investigation. I don’t know what is the result, but we will wait for it,” he said.
